Sandals MEGA FAM Event: Part II -Turks and Caicos
For travel agents lucky enough to be a part of the Sandals MEGA FAM event in the Caribbean, a trip to Emerald Bay was just the start of the adventure. Part two began with attendees arriving at the Beaches Resort in Turks and Caicos and being greeted by costumed Sesame Street characters, which represented the family focus at the resort. From there, things only got more fun for the travel agents who were able to be a part of this exciting trip to tropical Turks and Caicos.
All About Beaches Resort on Turks and Caicos
Before diving into the fun that TPI agents had exploring the Beaches Resort on Turks and Caicos, it’s important to learn a little more about the destination. While Sandals resorts are for couples only, Beaches resorts are geared toward families.
The Beaches Resort on Turks and Caicos is one of the largest resorts in the Caribbean, and it is made up of four large villages: the French, the Italian, the Caribbean and the Key West Luxury Village. The idea behind Beaches in Turks and Caicos is that a resort truly can appeal to everyone.
Kids love the beaches, the Kids Camp and the water park. Teens can enjoy the water sports, the teen-only Trench Town and the Xbox Play Lounge, and adults can take advantage of the amazing dining onsite and the unlimited scuba diving as well as the INA-certified nannies for babysitting.
Amazing Nightlife for VIP Travel Agents
Travel agents sampled the Discover Dining opportunities at the all-inclusive Beaches resort which allows guests to visit multiple eateries and bars in one night without ever stopping to pick up the check.
Highlights included Japanese fare, Italian cuisine, French favorites, local Caribbean specialties, live music, dancing at the Liquid Night Club and even some karaoke at Cricketer’s Pub.
A Day of Discovery
After a night of non-stop fun and world-class cuisine, travel agents at the Sandals MEGA FAM were able to take an extensive tour of the property and learn more about the operation as a whole.
Julie Stephan, Regional Director of Sales, started off with a talk about marketing the different resorts and services offered. Following Julie was Andre Wade, the Director of Industry Relations, who delivered a talk about the 19 different familiarization events hosted by Sandals during 2014, and what they involved to be such a success. As a bonus, Butch Stewart, the owner of Sandals, happened to be visiting with his family and made an appearance to speak to the attendees.

TPI and Sandals: A Mutually Beneficial Relationship
The relationship between travel agencies like Travel Planners International and resorts like Sandals is an important one. A TPI employee attending the FAM met owner Butch Stewart and he delivered a special thanks to all the TPI agents and wanted them to know that, “Sandals is the most profitable resort to sell, with the most comprehensive inclusions, plus the best beaches.” As one of the top agencies in the world selling Sandals vacations, TPI travel agents agree.
Travel agents can benefit financially from recommending Sandals Resorts like Beaches in Turks and Caicos, and Sandals benefits from sharing news of their development with agencies like TPI.
Travel agents attending the Sandals event in Turks and Caicos truly were given the royal treatment. An excursion cruising the Caribbean on the catamaran Kitty Kat was offered with onboard music, drinks and appetizers and a destination to an unspoiled beach with wild iguanas. This was a fun and educational adventure that won’t soon be forgotten. After an afternoon full of leisure, the agents enjoyed the Taste of the Island and Chocolate Extravaganza at Dino’s restaurant.
